Actor Matthew McConaughey has a new series in development on HBO - True Detective - and he just got married to Brazilian-American model and designer Camila Alves last year so the pair end up as our celebrity focus for the week.

Matthew David McConaughey celebrates his birthday on November 4 - a Scorpio. His wife and mother of their three children (Vida, Levi and Livingston Alves McConaughey), Camila Alves was born on January 28 - an Aquarius.

Now there are some astrologers who will tell you this is the worst possible combination of all the entire Zodiac. They represent opposite energies. Scorpio is all dark intensity while flighty Aquarius is like the cold wind. The Water Bearer hates to be tied down and the Scorpion likes nothing more than to tie his or her partner down (perhaps in more ways than one).

However, on a carnal level the attraction between them will be incendiary. Both of them are adventurers in the bedroom and beyond and their exploits won't be for the faint of heart but that's just the point. It's enough of a fire that it can keep other less compatible issues on the backburner for some time. Mr Scorpio is all macho sex appeal - clearly he's a particularly good example of his sign in that respect. Cool, contained Aquarius will turn him on from the word go - she's that brainy coed the jock dreams about defiling behind the bushes or between the stacks at the library and best of all, Aquarius is the one girl who'll love the idea as much as he does.

Both signs are also given to excess of the substance abusing variety and in terms of lifestyle in general. Nobody may be paying attention to the bills when these two signs get together and a night out often turns into an orgy of excess in many more ways than one. You don't want to go out with this pair unless you're up for a real walk on the wild side.

Now, it's possible these two are the pair who's channeled all that restless, adventurous energy into entirely productive and creative pursuits. Maybe... ;) Outside of all that, they're two intelligent signs who should have a lot to talk about and perhaps most importantly, they both love a challenge.

I should know, by the way - this is a romantic experiment that in my case lasted 13 years.

Olivia is a celebrity media (and especially paparazzi) favourite so her engagement to comedian/actor Jason Sudeikis has put them both in the spotlight.

Olivia Jane Wilde (née Cockburn) was born on March 10 - a Pisces. She definitely has that sign's pretty and very classically feminine appeal. It's what makes her a camera magnet. Daniel Jason Sudeikis celebrates his birthday on September 18 - a Virgo. His intelligent wit is a hallmark of his sign at its best.

Virgo - like just about any other heterosexual male - is drawn to the lady Pisces' beauteous charms and in him she'll find the refined, intelligent man who can give her the quality she's looking for in a relationship. Neither sign is pushy or aggressive and they share a sophisticated approach to sex over animalistic grapplings. Ms Wilde hasn't been shy about extolling their marathon sex sessions so I think we can assume they do have that basic sexual compatibility down pat.

The one area of trouble between these two signs can come from Virgo's rougher edges. Pisces is soft to the core but where Virgo's outside is all refinement and sophistication, inside he can often be harsh in his judgments and is known to sport a biting, caustic wit. If it's ever directed at his pretty Pisces, wounded feelings usually result. Virgo can also be very quick to take accommodating Pisces for granted, and may end up giving the relationship less than the attention it deserves.

Success and recognition, though, can temper a hardheaded Virgo's legendary sharp tongue and non-threatening Pisces is the lady who can get him to let down his barriers and relax into the charmer he really is inside. According to CNN, this couple ranks fourth on the 'power couple' scale, so who am I to argue with that? Miranda's new album has debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard charts and Blake is a judge on NBC's The Voice. Here's a look at this country music duo from an astrological point of view.

Miranda Leigh Lambert was born on November 10 - Scorpio and Blake Tollison Shelton on June 18 as a Gemini. It's an unusual combination. Scorpio is all singleminded intensity while Gemini changes direction like the fickle breeze

It's a pairing that typically begins in X-rated fashion. Sparks will fly when Gemini's inventive nature meets Scorpio's wicked ways in the bedroom and it may be quite some time before the Scorpion and the Twins even notice that they have other things in common - namely intelligence and wit.

Where this pairing usually falters lies in Gemini's fickle and often emotionally elusive nature when confronted by Scorpio's all out, 110% all the time intensity. Gemini has a tendency to a wandering eye and that doesn't go over well with Ms Scorpion.

With the Oscars coming up and Argo a favourite for Best Picture, I thought I'd check out longtime celeb couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.

Benjamin Géza Affleck-Boldt was born August 15 - a Leo. Jennifer Anne Garner celebrates her birthday on April 17 as an Aries. The union of the Lion and the Ram is a power couple extraordinaire.

Jennifer sounds like a typical Aries lady - girly on the outside, steel on the inside, with an athletic background as a dancer before she became an actress. She's the kind of lady who looks equally good in an evening gown as she does in sweats with a natural flair. Nothing artificial about your average Aries.

Leo is a mover and shaker and a natural leader. The Lion looks for substance in his mate and finds it in Aries. They're both Fire signs, so they'll be compatible in terms of energy levels and lifestyle choices. They're also hard workers.

This is a bold pairing - not for the fainthearted, but then no one has ever accused Leo or Aries of that. Leo can have a huge ego and a big personality but the Ram is more than strong enough to hold her own. The issues that might come up with Leo and Aries probably relate to their respective egos. This cute couple recently announced their engagement - a union of music biz royalty. Brandon Blackstock is the son of Kelly's manager - who's married to none other than Reba McIntyre.

Brandon is said to have proposed on the day before his birthday of December 16. That makes him a Sagittarius - and someone whose romantic enthusiasm will often lead to big gestures like that. When the Archer is in love, there will be no doubt about it.

Apparently the couple met years ago and she's said in interviews that it was love at first sight although she had to wait a while before he was single and eligible. Kelly Brianne Clarkson's birthday is April 24, making her a Taurus. The Bull goes big or stays at home when it comes to making emotional investments and love at first sight is always an option as far as they're concerned. They're also typically patient and capable of playing the long game to get what they want somewhere down the road.

Now this mating of Fire (Sag) and Earth (Taurus) may not seem like such a good choice in some respects.

Sag likes to live in a whirlwind (and tends to create one no matter how much he may think he's trying not to) while a Taurus not only loves but needs a calm, clean and pleasant home base to function well. Luckily, they're rich enough to have servants to pick up after him.

Where they will mesh is emotionally. The Archer is a sentimental, impulsive guy who will be chivalrous and romantic in his dealings and Taurus needs emotional stability more than they need a partner who cleans up after themselves. Taurus will warm up to the Archer's soft heart like a moth is drawn to a flame.

Alecia Beth Moore was born on September 8 - a Virgo. Husband and retired freestyle motocross, motorcycle racer and current off-road truck racer Carey Jason Phillip Hart was born on July 17, making him a Cancer.

Virgo and Cancer are a natural pairing that works on many basic levels. They're both family and domestically oriented signs. They both value quality over a flash in the pan and can satisfy each other's needs. Cancer is a classic family man of the olde school variety and will always find a way to provide for his family materially. That satisfies Virgo's craving for financial security. Enduring couple Victoria and David Beckham are still a favourite of celebrity watchers after more than a decade of marriage. Certainly, there's eye candy enough for anyone between the two of them, no matter what your persuasion, and a gaggle of cute kids too make for a lot of paparazzi opps.

But, they've had their ups and downs as a couple since their 1999 wedding, including much publicized claims of his occasional infidelity. What does the zodiac say about their union?

David Robert Joseph Beckham, the quintessential English footballer, was born May 2, a Taurus. Taurus is a the ultimate male, ruled by Venus. That's how he can be the macho athlete and also the sentimental family man who cried when his wife told him they were expecting another child. Family in general is hugely important to Taurus.
