Now that he's safely been re-elected as the 44th President of the United States, I thought it might be a good time to look at this power couple.

'Power couple' is just the right term for this pairing, almost a textbook example of the kind of union that should make it to the Oval Office or any other seat of political or corporate power.

Barack Hussein Obama II was born on August 4, a Leo - the Sun God, the classic charismatic leader. Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama celebrates her birthday on January 17 as a Capricorn, known for their sartorial elegance and as someone who knows how to play the long game when it comes to getting ahead.

Public persona is very important to both of these signs of the zodiac and public life is a no-brainer fit. If Leo is a natural leader and in general a spotlight magnet, Capricorn actually prefers to work behind the scenes, making them complementary rather than competitive.

Both signs are strong willed - it's the Lion vs the Ram after all - so the sparks may fly on occasion but it's also a pairing of people who respect each other. Both signs demand quality of their personal relationships and find it in each other.

Leo and Capricorn will be well matched in rooms other than the head office, too, including the bedroom where Leo really shines and Capricorn can finally let down their hair and become the passionate animal they are inside that conservative veneer.

If the rumours are to be believed, pop princess Britney and her beau Jason are said to have a rocky relationship with wedding dates supposedly set and then broken off a few times now.

They announced their engagement on Jason's birthday - December 15 - last year when he turned 40, a decade older than his bride to be. That makes him a Sagittarius and that's probably the crux of all those ups and downs because Ms Britney Jean Spears, who celebrates her birthday on December 2, is an Archer too.

Signs dating their own sign can be a hit or miss proposition. Some, like Cancer and Cancer or Taurus and Taurus for example, can generally work well (if a little on the dull side as a couple) but others, like the fire meets fire match of two Sagittarians, can simply exacerbate the downside of the sign.

Quite simply, two Sags can equal too much anarchy! Archers are fun, spontaneous people who don't do well with rules, deadlines, budgets and other tiresome limitations. Together, they'll be great friends who have fun and wild times together - they'll also be the couple who shows up perennially late for everything, arriving separately and at different times.

They have a mutual lack of concern about money - and hey, even the super rich have to worry about tomorrow. Their lives will  both be full of outside interests and the coupling may falter from lack of attention to the actual relationship on either side unless they have some deep, shared common ground that brings them back together on a regular basis.

Some signs bring out the best in each other - this is a pairing that tends to bring out the worst. An Archer generally needs a stabilizing influence, not someone who's egging them on. Jason's being older may be stabilizing to some degree - Sagittarians do tend to get more reasonable as they age - but will it be enough to keep this couple on the ground? I guess time (as always) will tell.

This couple is still only a rumour but let's take a look at the romantic astrological aspects of Carmen Electra and Simon Cowell.

Stories have been flying about the two of them since Simon hired her to serve as a guest judge on Britain's Got Talent earlier this year and have been spotted on intimate dates even if there's no "official" confirmation of the relationship.

Carmen Electra was born Tara Leigh Patrick on April 20, which means that she was born on the cusp of Aries and Taurus. Depending on the exact time and location of her birth, she'll be one or the other but will still retain some characteristics of the other.

Playboy model and perhaps best knowns as the Baywatch beauty who replaced the iconic Pamela Anderson, Carmen has a history of self-confessed impulsive relationships, including her brief marriage to basketball player Dennis Rodman and another marriage to Dave Navarro (also her reality TV costar). That points to Aries - a force of nature, a hot, energetic wind - rather than slower moving, home loving Taurus (although ironically the marriage bug - as opposed to being entirely committment shy like a typical Aries - might be the Taurus showing through).

Simon Phillip Cowell celebrates his birthday October 7, 1959 as a Libra. Libra isn't always known for their love of hard work (to put it mildly) but this one worked his way up from the mailroom at EMI Music Publishing to his current status as music industry/reality TV impresario.

Libra loves the ladies, that's for sure, and often earns a bit (or more!) of a reputation as a skirt chaser. He loves her feminine appeal, especially once he understands the strength that lies beneath her girly facade.

Together they'll share a love of adventure and new experiences. They'll have fun together and that's the start of a great relationship - or a nice hot fling.

In the longer term, Libra may have a hard time keeping up with the Ram's relentless energy level, but Simon's resume already shows that he falls into the more energetic side of the sign often dubbed "lazy Libra". The Ram charges through life full on while Libra wants to stop and smell the roses, although a union of opposites often makes the most durable couples - two people who don't get bored of each other.

This cute couple recently got hitched and thus landed in the celebrity story of the week.

Andrew James Matfin "Jamie" Bell was born on March 14 - a Pisces - while his wedded wife Evan Rachel Wood celebrates her birthday on September 7 as a Virgo. He's best known for his role in Billy Elliot and Tintin and Evan's had a varied career in both television and film and during the years apart, she was actually engaged to goth rocker Marilyn Manson (who I'm sure she loved for his fine mind - no irony intended.)

The two apparently met in 2005 while shooting a Green Day video and dated for a while before drifting apart. They got back together last year. That kind of romantic patience is actually characteristic of both signs. Pisces and Virgo are both usually low key in demeanour even if they're taking centre stage and they both recognize quality in a person when they see it. It's not that they don't have a fire, but it's a warm, slow burn rather than a dangerous blaze.

Pisces lives inside his elaborate and vivid imagination and the passage of several years would have done nothing to diminish his memories and impressions of her. Virgo is a hard headed, pragmatic sign with a good memory who is always prepared to play the long game and wait for quality over quantity.

They make an attractive couple, both signs blessed with natural good looks. Pisces and Virgo will share a gentler approach to life in this pushy, aggressive era - and that extends to the bedroom, where they'll be well matched. Not to say everything will necessarily be bland or vanilla - far from it. Pisces boy has a definitely kinky side but in a way that's likely to be pleasurable for all concerned.

Where they might have issues is in Virgo's very down to earth and practical orientation vs Pisces notoriously dreamy and fantasy-based existence, but in the absence of extreme behaviour (such as Pisces sometimes penchant for extreme neglect of money matters) they'll complement each other as many other opposites-attract couples do.

Cute teens Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez make a  photogenic pair but they've been plagued by rumours throughout their romance, most recently of a break up - or that their relationship is a "sham".

Astrology would say, however, that these two are more than compatible.

Justin Bieber was born March 1 as a Pisces and Selena Marie Gomez celebrates her birthday July 22 - a Cancer. Both of them are Water signs which gives them a natural meeting ground, like people who speak the same language and use the same terms of reference.

Water signs are artistic and emotional, although they may react to their emotionality by presenting a facade that's just the opposite - one of superficial feelings and an aversion to anything that smells like strong feelings. If both partners share that tendency, it can either drive them apart or bring them together in understanding.

Possible stumbling blocks: Cancer has up and down moods and is prone to be cantankerous now and then, mood swings that Pisces won't share and quite possibly won't understand or sympathize with. Petty arguments may arise.

Youth is its own wild card but what Cancer and Pisces will feel is safe with each other and that can go a long way towards keeping them together.

British superstar Adele and her boyfriend Simon Konecki recently welcomed the birth of a son in mid-October. Simon is an Aries, born April 17 and Adele is a Taurus born May 5.

In some cases, Aries the perpetual motion machine might be too much for a home loving Taurus, but in this case there seem to be signs of a much more compatible pairing.

Simon is founder of Life Water, an eco-friendly business supplying Britain with locally sourced water  and using a bottling process that's carbon neutral by Kyoto Standards. He's also the founder of Drop4Drop, an organization dedicated to solving the global water crisis. It's not uncommon for Aries to take up a torch of some kind and in fact he's happiest when he's putting his abundant energies to use fighting the good fight rather than, say, driving his partners crazy. ;)

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is a Taurus. Taurus' natural bent is very earth oriented and she'll have a lot of respect for what he does and respect itself is important to your typical Taurus of either sex. They like the object of their affection to have some character, some substance.

She's said to be turning down social invitations to stay home with the baby and that's pure Taurus too - they make the most devoted of Moms.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is set to make a splash at Super Bowl halftime this January, shortly after her daughter's first birthday. It seems like a good time to check out the astrological side of her relationship with hubby Jay-Z.

Born September 4, Beyoncé is a Virgo and Shawn Corey Carter, better known as Jay-Z, was born December 4 as a Sagittarius.

Virgo and Sagittarius are hardly a natural pairing - far from it! Virgo can be hypercritical and is typically down to earth, almost the opposite of the impulsive, messy, anything goes Archer. But... the fact that they've obviously made a great match of it shows the beauty and the diversity of the zodiac, where people are always a combination of their sun sign and other influences.

To begin with, Ms Knowles-Carter - up on stage shaking her booty - is no typical Virgo.  I've heard her say in interviews that she puts on a kind of persona in order to perform and that makes sense. She's tapping into a more flamboyant side, although I'd point out that the way she's sexy but never vulgar or cheap looking is pure Virgo.

With some common ground between them, Virgo would find a warm heart and solid companionship in the fiery Archer and she'll love the way he can make her laugh. That will come in handy when his outspokenness makes her wince - and I doubt that Mrs. Carter is the one picking up the dirty clothes he leaves lying all over the place anyway. He's also older than her and a Virgo does respect age and experience.

Opposites attract when they don't drive each other crazy and that's obviously what's going on in this successful marriage.
